It's difficult for all three of us but hardest on the kiddo. One of the most heart-wrenching images I have is of him knocking on the office door pleading, "Dada, can you please come out? I want to play wit you." (He has a tough time making the "th" sound.)
This evening was the first in a long time where hubby's been home from work or school while the day is still light. The kiddo was on the phone with my parents when he heard the garage door open so they were able share in the excitement.
"Dada's home, Tata! Dada's home, Ammachi! I'm going to play wit him. He's my favorite. Hi, Dada! Welcome back!"
"Hi, buddy! I missed you! Can I get a hug? Oh, that's the best. I love your hugs!"
"You want to play wit me?"
"Yes! Let's go!"
This was followed by helping Dada bring his things in from the car, playing ball in the house, playing ball outside, a very long bike ride, opening a Valentine's day present from a friend, playing cars, making caves with blankets, tickle fights, and lots of laughter. And definitely lots of love.
Priceless.
Oh, I LOVE this post. What a blessing, gift it is to have times like those. The pictures are perfect, both of their expressions....wonderful.
