That is, until hubby asked me to update the payment schedule with the extra payments we had made. Amazingly, we were more than half-way to our end goal! Anticipating to apply tax refunds and bonuses to the loan, we think we will be out of debt by April 2012. To say that I'm excited does not begin to describe the sense of relief and joy I feel at seeing that marked on the calendar!
Going through that process helped me see that there have been so many other joyful, blessed moments since we started this plan.
Here are just some of the "mile markers" we've seen on our road:
- children - the birth of our kiddo, his cousins, and other little bundles of joy.
- not being laid off - hubby was fortunate enough to find work and transition smoothly to a new job.
- sunny California - I love the Northwest, but the blue skies and warmth are a nice change!
- success and reward - hubby had a great year at work and was rewarded with a relaxing and fun trip to the Bahamas.
- family nearby - we left all of hubby's family and my parents and extended family in Oregon and Washington. It's very nice to have my sister and my cousins in San Francisco and Fresno.
- family visits - we are fortunate to have made several trips back and we're especially thankful for those who have visited us here.
- good people - great colleagues, wonderful new friends, a welcoming church, supportive family, and hard-working realtors (The Navarro Team).
- the sale of our house in Portland after 20 long months on the market!
- a house in a safe neighborhood
- staying well and healthy!
The blessings of your father are mighty beyond the blessings of the eternal mountains, the bounties of the everlasting hills.
Good for you, Rachel! I know this is a sacrifice, but it sure is fun seeing progress, isn't it? Thanks for the update!
